The knitted co-ord: most definitely the most desirable co-ord of this season with the high street offering up everything from chunky sweats, knitted t shirts, cable knit flares to merino pencil skirts… What a time to be alive! I remember seeing those hugely oversized knitted trousers paired with a matching (also extremely oversized) jumper, and, would you believe it some uber cool Oakley sunglasses parade down the runway at The Row’s A/W14 show and I actually thought it was a little crazy – ‘how would that even work? the knit will definitely go baggy? isn’t knitwear on the bottom half just hugely impractical?’ were my exact thoughts upon seeing them… And despite each of these questions, here we are today fully embracing the wonders that is the knitted co-ord – including myself.
Being a lazy Brit who as much as she loves the winter hates the cold, cosying up is a must and plodding around in layers worthy of climbing Mount Everest is a huge no-no – so for me, the thought of knitting myself into a giant cashmere ball and still being on trend is the best feeling ever. Praise the Olsens.
Talking of all things American, I’m currently falling for that oh-so-preppy look. I love finding those pieces that you just never want to take off – comfort always beats everything so it’s a bonus when they look good too. You’re probably aware by now if you’re a long-time follower that I have a deep love for wide leg/palazzo trousers, so this pair is no exception.
One of my main style inspirations is that preppy, American university look – I love the nonchalance take on uniform associated with it, so this long-line varsity jacket find is the most perfect jacket that I currently own and I’m officially going to look like a (female) fraternity reject on campus from now on.
